Worship Devotional for 6/13/21
For the past couple of weeks we have been praising God for who He is and for what He has done for us in that He has revealed Himself to us in three Persons, yet one God. Working together in perfect unity, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit have brought salvation to mankind. There is salvation in no other name but the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. According to the Father's perfect will and plan from before time began, and in perfect submission to the Father, Jesus lived a blameless and sinless life on this earth and then was crucified on a cross, where He suffered and died for the sins of humanity. He who had done no wrong took upon Himself the wrath of God towards sin, paying the price for our redemption with His shed blood. He died and was buried, then rose again from the grave on the third day, claiming victory over death once and for all! Now all who put their faith and hope in Him are saved from punishment for their sins because of His sacrifice, are made new being brought from death to life along with Christ, and are given the promise eternal life. After His resurrection, Jesus ascended into heaven having appeared to His disciples and to many other witnesses. Then the Holy Spirit came down from heaven and filled the hearts and souls of the believers, and the church was born. The Spirit spoke and continues to speak through those who have come to faith in Christ, bearing witness to God's work of salvation so that more people might come under conviction for their wicked ways and repent and turn to God, believing in the only name that can save them, until the day finally comes when Jesus returns and the world as we know it passes away. Then we will dwell in the presence and glory of God forevermore as we — the people of God — are made one with our God.
Revelation 21:3-8:
"Then I heard a loud voice from the throne:
'Look! God's dwelling is with humanity, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will no longer exist; grief, crying, and pain will exist no longer, because the previous things have passed away.'
Then the One seated on the throne said, 'Look! I am making everything new.' He also said, 'Write, because these words are faithful and true.' And He said to me, 'It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give water as gift to the thirsty from the spiring of life. The victor will inherit these things, and I will be His God, and he will be My son. But the cowards, unbelievers, vile, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars — their share will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.'"
This week we are singing about who we are as the church of God, God's people, the children of God, the saints of the Lord. We have been saved, redeemed, made new and alive, and set free in the name of Jesus to live our lives for the glory of God. Therefore let us praise and worship Him with all our hearts and minds and souls and strength as we come together for fellowship, and let us thank God for this great and wonderful salvation and hope which He has given us by His grace.
1 Peter 2:9-10:
"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy."
Songs:
Revelation 19:11-16:
"Then I saw heaven opened, and there was a white horse. Its rider is called Faithful and True, and He judges and makes war in righteousness. His eyes were like a fiery flame, and many crowns were on His head. He had a name written that no one knows except Himself. He word a robe stained with blood, and His name is the Word of God. The armies that were in heaven followed Him on white horses, wearing pure white linen. A sharp sword came from His mouth, so that He might strike the nations with it. He will shepherd them with an iron scepter. He will also trample the winepress of the fierce anger of God, the Almighty. And He has a name written on His robe and on His thigh: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS."
The King of kings has made a way for us to be saved. He came to us when we were lost in the darkness of our own sins and brought light, hope, truth, redemption, salvation, freedom, and life. Praise be to the God of all glory and majesty, to the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit, who saved us and made us His forever. He alone is worthy to be praised, for He reigns in glory above all things forever and ever!
2) Is He Worthy by Andrew Peterson
Revelation 5:
"Then I saw in the right hand of the One seated on the throne a scroll with writing on the inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals. I also saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, 'Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?' But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or even to look in it. And I cried and cried because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or even to look in it.
Then one of the elders said to me, 'Stop crying. Look! The Lion from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has been victorious so that He may open the scroll and its seven seals.' Then I saw One like a slaughtered lamb standing between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent into all the earth. He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of the One seated on the throne.
When He took the scroll, the four living creatures and the 24 elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and gold bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song:
'You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because You were slaughtered, and You redeemed people for God by Your blood from every tribe and language and people and nation. You made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they will reign on the earth.'
Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels around the throne, and also of the living creatures and of the elders. Their number was countless thousands, plus thousands of thousands. They said with a loud voice:
'The Lamb who was slaughtered is worthy to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing!'
I heard every creature in heaven, on earth, under the earth, on the sea, and everything in them say:
'Blessing and honor and glory and dominion to the One seated on the throne, and to the Lamb, forever and ever!'
The four living creatures said, 'Amen,' and the elders fell down and worshiped."
3) Children Of God by Phil Wickham
Galatians 3:27-4:7:
"For as many of you have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ like a garment. There is no Jew or Greek, slave or free, male or female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, heirs according to the promise.
Now I say that as long as the heir is a child, he differs in no way from a slave, though he is the owner of everything. Instead, he is under guardians and stewards until the time set by his father. In the same way we also, when we were children, were in slavery under the elemental forces of the world. When the time came to completion, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, 'Abba, Father!' So you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God."
Ephesians 6:10-18:
"Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by His vast strength. Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the tactics of the Devil. For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens. This is why you must take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand. Stand, therefore,
with truth like a belt around your waist, righteousness like armor on your chest, and your feet sandaled with readiness for the gospel of peace. In every situation take the shield of faith, and with it you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is God's word.
Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert in this with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints."
4) Sound Of The Saints by Audio Adrenaline
All creation bears witness to the glory of God, the Creator of all things (see Psalms 8 and 19, Romans 1:18-25). But God's praise is magnified and amplified through His people, who He gave the ability to speak and declare the words of His praise for all to hear. We were made in His image, and made to rule over the creation. Therefore, it is our responsibility as those who have been redeemed and saved to declare the gospel of God's salvation to all nations and even to all of creation. The sound of our praise as the saints of God is what declares hope and life and truth to all of creation. So let us give glory with our lips from our hearts to God! He saves and redeems and heals and delivers us from death!
Romans 8:18-27:
"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us. For the creation eagerly waits with anticipation for God's sons to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to futility — not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it — in the hope that the creation itself will also be set free from the bondage of corruption into the glorious freedom of God's children. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together with labor pains until now. And not only that, but we ourselves who have the Spirit as the firstfruits — we also groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for adoption, the redemption of our bodies. Now in this hope we were saved, yet hope that is seen is not hope, because who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with patience.
In the same way the Spirit also joins to help in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with unspoken groanings. And He who searches the hearts knows the Spirit's mind-set, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God."
